1- The TFI: International French Test
NEW: The TFI is now correlated to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
It certifies French skills of working people or people who would like to work in a francophone environment and for whom, French is not their mother tongue.
TFI Advantages?
Spoken by more than 170 million of people every day, French is widely used in international professional exchanges. A student who would like to study in a francophone country or to work in an international multilingual environment can prove his French skills thanks to the test results, which are recognized reliable and valid all around the world.
Who uses the test?
- Managers and human resource managers involved in hiring decisions.
- Companies that use notes to define threshold levels for each job.
- Teachers and schools to certify French skills. Results are also used as one of the criteria for admission or graduation.
- Language schools use the exam to create homogeneous level groups at the beginning of training in order to validate improvements at the end of training.
- Employees and students who take the test to prove their French skills in the academic and professional world.
How is the TFI scored?
Results are determined by the amount of correct answers. Correct answers in each section are then converted in a mark according to a defined rating scale.
Each candidate is given three results which he obtained at the test: a result corresponding to the oral comprehension section, a result corresponding to the written comprehension section and a global result which is the sum of the results obtained in these two sections. Distinct results for both sections can spread from 5 to 495 points. Global result is therefore situated between 10 and 990 points. Statistic procedures used to convert results on a common scale guarantee that similar results to the TFI test represent comparable level in French.

Students and employees mention their TOEIC results on their CV in order to objectively prove their English skills.
How is the test scored?
Results are spread from 10 to 990 points:
- A result situated between 255 and 400 corresponds to an elementary level.

The TOEIC is not a test in which you fail or succeed. Each profession or professional task do not require the same skills levels in English. As the TOEIC test was especially conceived in order to evaluate the different sorts of English used in the professional context, this test measures the different skills levels. Candidates can demonstrate, thanks to this test, what they can actually do in English.
Many companies use the TOEIC test in order to define their criteria and they can require their employees to obtain a minimal result to the TOEIC test corresponding to the necessary English level for a particular job. It does not mean that a person has failed or succeeded in this test. It only means that the person meets or not the criteria defined by a firm or by a specific language school.
You can prepare both tests in the accredited exam center of Stralang language school in Strasbourg: Stralang registration for the TOEIC – TFI.
