Learn French in Strasbourg | French as a Foreign Language Courses (FFL)

A- Intensive French Course (20 hours/week)

General French, French culture and society for A0, A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

Schedule: 4 hours per day, 5 days per week.

General French classes are held every morning from 9.00 to 12.00 pm and every afternoon from 12.15 to 1.15 pm, Monday to Friday in level groups (A0 to C1 level).

The courses’ objectives correspond to the standards and recommendations set within the CEFRL. Our students improve their listening and written comprehension skills, their oral expression and writing skills, as they extend their knowledge about French culture and society.

Learning groups are limited to 9 students maximum.

Tutoring: 3 extra hours per week offered conditional on availability (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) from 1.30 to 2.30 pm for students registered in an intensive programme.

B- Standard French Course  (15 hours/week)

General French, French culture and society for A0, A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels (according to the CEFRL).

Schedule: 3 hours per day, 5 days per week.

General French classes are held every morning from 9.00 to 12.00 pm,  Monday to Friday in level groups (A0 to C1 level).

The courses’ objectives correspond to the standards and recommendations set within the CEFRL. Our students improve their listening and written comprehension skills, their oral expression and writing skills, as they extend their knowledge about French culture and society.

Learning groups are limited to 9 students maximum.

Tutoring: 1 extra hour per week offered on the day of your choice, conditional on availability (Tuesday to Thursday) from 1.30 to 2.30 pm for students registered in a standard  programme.

C- Adapted French Courses (4 hours/week)

Evening classes: General French, French culture and society (written and oral).

  • When: all year starting in September.
  • Days/hours: Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 7.00 to 9.00 pm.
  • Level: beginner, intermediate, advanced (A0 to C1 level, according to the CEFRL).

Evening classes: Business French (written and oral).

  • When: all year starting in September.
  • Days/hours: Monday and Wednesday from 7.00 to 9.00 pm.
  • Level: beginner, intermediate, advanced.

Private course: French as a Foreign Language, in a small group.

D- Private Lessons 

General or Specialised French, individual lessons with a professor for A0, A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels (according to the CEFRL).

Schedule: any time during the year depending on demand.

Days/hours: to define with your teacher and conditional on his/her availability.

 

Teaching Method

At Stralang Institute, our aim is to teach language by focusing on interaction and communication. We follow the student’s progress while concentrating our efforts on strengthening his/her oral and written skills. Our programmes and courses' objectives correspond to the standards established within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

Students receive a completion certificate at the end of each session indicating the level he/she has reached based on the CEFRL.

Learning Material

  • The course material is provided free of charge by the Institute (at the beginning of the training only) to students registered in an intensive programme for a minimum period of a semester. After this period, the material will be at the student’s expense.
  • Students can borrow books and DVDs at the Institute. Access to a computer and free Wi-Fi is provided at the centre.


Evaluation

  • Weekly tests are organised to better evaluate the student’s level and progress.
  • The student takes a final test at the end of the learning session to assess his/her level.
  • Preparation learning sessions to the TCF, DELF and DALF examinations are also available for the students.
  • The Institute delivers a completion certificate at the end of the programme indicating the training’s total hours and the number of ECTS credits obtained by the student, as well as the level he/she reached according to the CEFRL.
