1st of May 2017 : Labor Day
Labor Day is a public holiday in France. This festival was born in the United States and was baptized by the Vichy regime. This is an opportunity for French people to enjoy a day off from work.
07th of May 2017: Second round of presidential elections
On April 23st French people went to vote to choose between 11 candidates their two finalists for the post of President of the Republic for the next 5 years. After a rather atypical campaign the choice of the majority was on Emmanuel MACRON the candidate of "En Marche" and Marine LE PEN the leader of the National Front. This May 07 will be the day of the second round when the French will have to decide between these two candidates.
08th of May 2017: The Armistice of 1945
The Armistice of 1945 marks the end of the Second World War in Europe and marks the defeat of Nazi Germany. This day is a holiday in France.
13th of May 2017: Eurovision Song contest
Eurovision takes place every year around May. It is a singing competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). More than forty countries are participating in this competition and is broadcast simultaneously in several countries and continents. This year the Eurovision will be held in Kiev in Ukraine winner of 2016.
May 17-28, 2017: Cannes Film Festival

20th of May 2017: European night of museums

From 22 May to 11 June 2017: Roland-Garros
Roland Garros or the international tournament of France was created in 1925 and took place in Paris annually since 1928 in the stadium that bears the name of the tournament. 26th of May 2017: Neighbours day
It is a party of French origin launched in 1999 in Paris by the association "Paris d'amis". The aim of the neighbors' festival is to strengthen the ties of proximity and to mobilize against isolation. Today this festival brings together more than 30 million people and crosses borders
28th of May 2017: Mother's day
Mother's Day is an annual event dedicated to mothers celebrated all over the world. During this day the children offer gifts, cakes, flowers to their mothers to reward the mothers of families. The date of this festival varies according to the country.
End of May to June 24, 2017: Ramadan
The month of Ramadan corresponds to the ninth month of the calendar of the Hegira. For Muslims this month is the most important; It is that of fasting and it also contains "Laylat-Al-Qadr" which is for Muslims the holiest night of the year. It was during this night that the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by the 'Archangel Gabriel. During this month Muslims of the age and physical capacity do not eat, drink, smoke and do not perfume from sunrise to sunset. This month ends with a three-days of celebration.
